What we solve
FIS Modern Banking Platform customers (and embedded-finance programs running through FIS/Bond) need a high-assurance way to verify applicant identity during digital account origination—meeting CIP/BSA/AML requirements and reducing fraud—without slowing onboarding with manual checks. This integration triggers 1Kosmos BlockID Verify and LiveID from FIS onboarding events (pub/sub), delivers a verification link via the OmniChannel layer, receives webhook completion results, and writes verified status/IAL back to FIS customer records so account opening can proceed confidently to funding.
Platform identity landscape
FIS's Modern Banking Platform (MBP) is its cloud-native core banking system built on Google Cloud, launched to replace legacy Horizon installations. FIS serves approximately 9% of US banks but has a disproportionate presence in large regional banks and financial holding companies. FIS's Code Connect developer portal provides REST APIs for core banking functions. The FIS Marketplace lists certified partner integrations.
FIS's identity verification ecosystem historically relies on partner integrations through its OmniChannel Banking layer. FIS recently acquired Bond (BaaS platform) and has expanded into embedded finance, creating new IDV insertion points for account origination in embedded banking contexts.
Technical integration architecture
FIS Bond / BaaS path: FIS Bond powers embedded banking programs for fintechs. When a fintech's end-user opens an account through a Bond-powered card program, BlockID Verify can be embedded in the Bond KYC workflow via Bond's POST /accounts/kyc extension point. This reaches a younger, mobile-native demographic and positions 1Kosmos against Alloy and Persona (the dominant IDV vendors in BaaS).
