Overview
Google Drive does not support standalone SAML SSO. Access is controlled through Google Workspace or Cloud Identity, which manage authentication for all Google services. Configuring 1Kosmos as the SAML identity provider for Google Workspace automatically secures Google Drive, Gmail, Docs, Meet, and all other Workspace applications.
What we solve
Organizations using Google Drive need to protect access to shared documents and files without password-based logins that can be compromised; Drive authentication is controlled via Google Workspace/Cloud Identity. This integration secures Drive by configuring 1Kosmos as the SAML identity provider for Google Workspace so users authenticate biometrically to access Drive (and other Workspace apps) without a separate Drive-specific SSO setup.
The configuration is performed in the Google Workspace Admin Console under Security → Authentication → SSO with third-party IdP.
Once 1Kosmos is set as the SAML identity provider and the SSO profile is assigned to users or organizational units, those users authenticate through 1Kosmos biometrically before accessing their Google Drive and all Workspace applications. No additional Drive-specific configuration is required beyond the Google Workspace SSO setup.

Prerequisites
Active 1Kosmos tenant: Administrator access to the AdminX portal. Contact 1kosmos.com/contact if not yet provisioned.
Google Workspace or Cloud Identity subscription: Super administrator access to the Google Admin Console. Google Drive with shared-drive or individual-user access controlled through Workspace accounts.

1Kosmos mobile app installed: Users must have the app on iOS or Android with biometrics enrolled before testing.
Integration notes
Google Drive access is gated by Google account authentication. Any user whose Google account is covered by the 1Kosmos SAML SSO profile in the Google Admin Console will authenticate through 1Kosmos biometrically when signing in to Google.
After successful 1Kosmos authentication, access extends automatically to Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Meet, Docs, and all other Google Workspace apps tied to that account.
