1Kosmos is now available in Epic Toolbox for Identity Verification in the EpicCare Link category, allowing healthcare organizations to verify the identities of providers and outside clinicians before granting EpicCare Link access.
A referring physician requests EpicCare Link access, someone reviews the request against a provider roster, and the account is approved. The clinician now has a window into patient records, but no one along the way has confirmed that the person behind the request is the person named on the roster.
That gap shows up in onboarding workflows, where verification comes down to an attestation letter from the clinician's organization or a knowledge-based quiz about a former address. These checks made sense when provider networks were small enough that someone could vouch for a name, but credential fraud has since outgrown them.
