1Kosmos Mentioned in 5 Recent Gartner® Hype Cycle™ Reports

Robert MacDonald

We are excited to share that 1Kosmos has been mentioned in 5 recent Gartner® Hype Cycle™ reports:

If you are not familiar with the Gartner Hype Cycles, they “provide a graphic representation of the maturity and adoption of technologies and applications, and how they are potentially relevant to solving real business problems and exploiting new opportunities. Gartner Hype Cycle methodology gives you a view of how a technology or application will evolve over time, providing a sound source of insight to manage its deployment within the context of your specific business goals”(Gartner Hype Cycle). In our opinion, being recognized in the analyst space is a validation and something every organization covets. We believe, the recognition justifies the time, effort, and vision of an organization, or at least that’s how we feel here at 1Kosmos.

We believe recognition in these Hype Cycle reports validates our push to provide a verified portable identity and a passwordless experience to all. This also means that the market is catching up to where we already are.

According to the Gartner Hype Cycle for Digital Identity, 2022, “Existing approaches for digital identities cannot scale to the accelerating needs of a digital society.” Fragmentation is a problem due to service providers (banks, retailers and governments) forcing consumers to create individual identities for every service. Decentralized identity (DCI) offers an approach with increased security, privacy and usability compared to traditional digital identity approaches. As standards continue to be refined, and legislative efforts around the world are multiplying, use cases for DCI are emerging in the market.

Users gain greater control of their identities and data, and service providers gain higher trust, speed and confidence. Currently, providers collect huge amounts of identity information about users, in order to increase assurance to an acceptable level. DCI can help identity and service providers increase trust, security, privacy, and access convenience for end users without the need for centralized data; thereby reducing risks of data breaches, account takeovers and privacy compliance violations.[1]

The 1Kosmos BlockID platform uses a private blockchain that enables organizations to create irrefutable decentralized digital identities and unifies identity proofing with passwordless authentication.

The Gartner Hype Cycle for Digital Identity, 2022 states that the growing adoption of DCI is a key driver for implementing VCs to streamline business processes.[1]

1Kosmos BlockID is built with specific capabilities for the onboarding, verification and authentication of employees, contractors, customers and citizens. 1Kosmos digitally transforms the standard onboarding process, by automating and delivering the highest degree of end-user assurance. This transformation eliminates the need for new users to share copies of government IDs, protecting their privacy.

By binding users to their proofed identity, 1Kosmos BlockID creates an identity-based biometric authentication and a passwordless experience. Users will utilize their trusted mobile device for daily authentication and step-up authentication for physical or logical access. As a result, each access event is associated with a real, verified identity.
